Every person should have an opportunity to hear the Gospel and you can make it possible.

About us

Declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Africa, discipling believers & training church leaders.

About us

With a vision to see Africa saved by the love of Jesus, we exist to take the Gospel to the unreached people of Africa, provide discipleship training to believers and equip local church leaders through Bible-based teaching and leadership training, done in their local language.

With a vision to see Africa saved by the love of Jesus, we exist to take the Gospel to the unreached people of Africa, provide discipleship training to believers and equip local church leaders through Bible-based teaching and leadership training, done in their local language.

To achieve this, we have developed simple yet highly effective programs, that to date have transformed the lives of millions through the love of God and the power of the Gospel.

Our key activities include; Gospel Outreach meetings, Christian Discipleship Program (CDP), Prison Outreach and Discipleship Program, School Gospel Outreach, Jesus Film Outreach, and Pastors Conferences.

We have local teams of Evangelists in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, who lead and facilitate our outreaches.

We make no distinction between church denomination or movement, working with all churches and encouraging unity in the body of Christ.

1979

In 1979, Peter Pretorius, a successful South African tobacco farmer, and his wife Ann, came to the Lord after witnessing Peter’s father’s dramatic healing. They began to share the Gospel immediately, wherever they could. By 1983, the ministry was founded and registered in South Africa and began Gospel Outreaches in rural town halls. In 1986, the Ministry was officially registered in the USA.

1987

By 1987, Jesus Alive purchased a 5 000-seater tent and moved from place to place holding Gospel Outreaches throughout South Africa. By early 2017, the ministry grew to lead more than 11 million souls to the Lord in 21 African nations through mass, city-wide Outreaches. Churches were strengthened, lives changed and countless individuals were healed and delivered through the power of God.

1995

In 1995, Jesus Alive launched its Christian Discipleship Program (CDP) to help equip the local church and establish new believers in God’s Word. 50 hours of Word based teaching from leading teachers around the world, recorded by Peter Pretorius onto 17 DVDs, and translated and dubbed into more than 50 African languages. CDP became part of Jesus Alive’s outreach strategy resulting in regional CDP centers being set up between participating churches. Church leaders were given the 17 discs, a TV monitor, DVD player and generator so they could host weekly sessions, giving the new believers, pastors and churches the spiritual resources they need to continue in a life of victory and transformation through God’s Word. This continues today.

2006

In 2006, the transition from city outreaches to rural outreaches was made. Jesus Alive discovered that most of Africa’s unreached were not in the often over-evangelized cities, but in rural villages where few evangelists visit.Teams comprising of a local evangelist and the Christian Discipleship Program (CDP) coordinator, local trainees, were established in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and South Africa. These teams continue to run our programs today.

2012

By 2012, our rural evangelism model had matured into an efficient, strong and powerful evangelistic force. In that year, 288 575 souls were led to Christ through rural outreach meetings and school evangelism in 40 villages.

2018

In 2018 Jesus Alive establishes a Prison Outreach program by setting up Christian Discipleship Program centers in prisons across Kenya. Staying true to our vision of going where others will not go and reaching the unreached .

Jesus likens the righteous to those who take care of the hungry, the thirsty, the strangers, the naked, the sick and those in prison. HIS priority is people, and HE has equipped and motivated us to make the wellbeing of our fellow human beings our priority.

By 2023 we had reached 24.7 Million people with the Gospel and recorded 14.1 Million decisions for Jesus through our various outreaches.

PRESENT
  • We believe in salvation by GRACE, through FAITH, not as a result of our own doing but a gift from God, through the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in one God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, was resurrected, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is true God and true man.
  • We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and conduct.
  • We believe in the resurrection of the dead at the second coming of Christ, and the eternal happiness of the saved.
  • We believe personal salvation is available by grace through faith to anyone who believes in Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in sanctification through the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in miracles and divine healing, through faith in the Name of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in water baptism and in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the spirit, the fruit of the Spirit and that all these are available to believers.
  • We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
